Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: - At least 2-3 years of Level 1 ICU experience required. - Open to reviewing candidates with level 2 ICU experience. License: - Valid State License required. Certifications: - BLS - ACLS Must-Have: - Critical care experience. - Inpatient experience. - Phase I PACU experience. - Dysrhythmia recognition and management. - Blood product administration. - Phlebotomy skills. - Starting IVs. - Experience with IV vasopressors. - ICP monitoring experience. - Care of ventilated patients. Description: The position is located in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit. This unit has an average daily census of 70-90 patients. It consists of 38 patient bays. The staff is needed for the recovery of a wide variety of acute postoperative patients. Critical care experience is required as some patients may require artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs. Surgical patients include those undergoing neurosurgery, ENT procedures, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic surgery, vascular procedures, trauma surgery, general surgeries, colorectal surgeries, gynecological surgeries, urological surgeries, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplants. The unit does not recover open-heart surgeries or liver transplants. The staff will be expected to learn how to assist with preoperative patients. The patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients. The unit operates 24/7. A personal care technician/transport team is available on the unit. This position does not require weekend shifts, call, or holiday shifts. Candidates must be prepared to float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs. First-time travelers are accepted. Flexible scheduling is not available. Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility. No more than 7 days of requested time off is permitted per 13-week contract.
